Walmart announced a new holiday meal bundle intended to feed ten individuals for $35, translating to a cost of $3.50 per person. The company stated that the dinner kit is available for purchase both in physical stores and online through Dec. 24. According to the retailer, internal survey data indicated that shoppers are actively seeking lower prices this season.
The offering includes a mix of items from Walmart and other national brands, covering traditional holiday foods from turkey to mini marshmallows. Walmart noted that the current basket contains 18% more items while costing 12% less than the equivalent items did last year, marking the lowest-priced one-click basket in the program’s history. In addition to the bundle pricing, the retailer is providing free express delivery on the meal basket through Nov. 30.
The rollout comes against a backdrop of broader food price increases. Through September, food prices across the United States rose 2.5% this year, according to tracking data. Furthermore, the cost of food purchased at grocery stores for home consumption has surged by more than 30% since 2020, based on Federal Reserve figures.
The holiday bundle comprises 17 different products and 26 items in total. The specific contents include two 8.5-ounce boxes of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix, three 15-ounce cans of Great Value Golden Sweet Whole Kernel Corn, three 14.5-ounce cans of Great Value Cut Green Beans, a 10.5-ounce can of Campbell’s Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup, and a 6-ounce resealable bag of Great Value French Fried Onions Salad Topping.
Additional items feature a 5-pound bag of fresh whole Russet potatoes, two 0.87-ounce packets of Great Value Brown Gravy Mix, a package of two 9-inch Great Value Frozen Traditional Pie Crusts with pans totaling 15 ounces, an 8-ounce container of Great Value frozen whipped topping, a 15-ounce can of Great Value 100% Pure Pumpkin, a 12-fluid-ounce can of Great Value Evaporated Milk, and a 12-count, 12-ounce package of Great Value Brown and Serve Rolls.
The meal package also includes two 6-ounce boxes of Stove Top Turkey Stuffing Mix, a 12-ounce bag of fresh cranberries, a 10-ounce bag of Jet-Puffed Mini Marshmallows, three fresh whole sweet potatoes, and an all-natural Butterball frozen whole turkey weighing between 10 and 16 pounds, designed to serve seven to 11 people.
