Eagles Promote Running Back Jaydon Blue, Place Dameon Pierce on Injured Reserve

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Wednesday that running back Jaydon Blue has been signed from the practice squad to the active roster. In a corresponding transaction, the team placed running back Dameon Pierce on Injured Reserve. Additionally, the franchise signed guard Evan Beerntsen, wide receiver Quentin Skinner, and defensive back Shaun Wade to the practice squad.
This marks Blue’s second stint on the active roster this season. After joining the Eagles’ practice squad prior to the start of the year, he was previously promoted ahead of a Week 6 matchup against the Panthers, only to be released back to the practice squad the following week. With Pierce’s placement on Injured Reserve, Blue rejoins the 53-man roster.
Blue entered the NFL as a fifth-round selection by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Texas. During his rookie campaign, he appeared in five games for Dallas, collecting 129 rushing yards and one touchdown across 34 carries before being waived during final roster cuts. At the NFL Combine, the 5-foot-9 running back ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash following a senior college season where he rushed for 730 yards, eight touchdowns, and an average of 5.4 yards per carry, while also catching six receiving touchdowns.
Pierce’s move to Injured Reserve continues a turbulent stretch for the Eagles’ backfield, making him the fourth running back on the team to land on the designation this season, a group that includes Carson Steele after he was waived-injured and reverted to the list. Pierce arrived in Philadelphia during the offseason via free agency, signing to the practice squad after training camp and the preseason. When Tank Bigsby sustained an injury against the Rams in Week 4, the team elevated Pierce from the practice squad. Following injuries to Saquon Barkley and Will Shipley—who was placed on Injured Reserve a week after Bigsby—Pierce assumed a significant offensive workload. He replaced Shipley against the Jaguars after a foot injury forced the third-year back out of the game, subsequently started against the Carolina Panthers, and served as the primary ballcarrier against Dallas on Monday. Across those three appearances, Pierce compiled 96 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 37 carries.
Before arriving in Philadelphia, the former Florida Gator put up 939 yards and four touchdowns across 13 games during a productive 2022 rookie season with Houston. He added 416 rushing yards in 2023 and 293 yards in 2024, peaking with a career-high 176 rushing yards in Week 18 of the 2024 season. He saw limited action in 2025 over 28 offensive snaps split between the Texans and Chiefs.
Alongside the roster changes, the Eagles reinforced their practice squad with three new additions. Guard Evan Beerntsen joins the organization following stints with multiple teams. A native of Appleton, Wisconsin, Beerntsen played six years at South Dakota State, starting on the offensive line during their FCS National Championship game appearances in 2022 and 2023. He then used a seventh year of eligibility granted by the NCAA to play his final collegiate season at Northwestern in 2025, where he protected quarterback Preston Stone without allowing a sack or quarterback hits and helped the Wildcats secure a GameAbove Sports Bowl victory. Selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, Beerntsen was waived following the preseason, spent two weeks on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad, and was released on October 21st.
Wide receiver Quentin Skinner also joins the practice squad. Undrafted out of Kansas in 2025, Skinner signed with the New York Jets and spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad before earning a late-season promotion to the active roster. In Week 18 against the Bills, he recorded a 10-yard reception and caught a diving two-point conversion pass from Brady Cook. During his four-year career at Kansas—extended to five seasons with a redshirt year—the 6-foot-4 receiver totaled 1,584 yards and 11 touchdowns on 80 receptions, contributing to the program’s first bowl victory in over a decade at the 2023 Guaranteed Rate Bowl against UNLV.
Defensive back Shaun Wade returns to the Eagles’ practice squad after a two-week absence. Originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens out of Ohio State, Wade was traded to the New England Patriots later that year, where he played 20 games and recorded 26 tackles across three seasons. He signed with Philadelphia in June, participating in training camp and the preseason, during which he led the NFL with three forced fusions alongside 18 tackles and three passes defensed. Although waived during final roster cuts, Wade re-signed to the practice squad in September before being released on October 13th.
