William Contreras Named World Series MVP After Brewers Title Win

The Milwaukee Brewers secured the franchise’s inaugural World Series title on Wednesday night with a 4–1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5. Catcher William Contreras cemented a stellar postseason run by capturing the World Series MVP award, pacing the club with a .373 batting average, a .448 on-base percentage, a .588 slugging percentage, and a 1.037 OPS.

The triumph carried added significance as William’s brother, Willson Contreras, watched from the audience. Captured on video in the stands as the final out was recorded, Willson clutched the jersey of the spectator in front of him, buried his face in excitement, and jumped in celebration for his younger sibling. William is now a two-time World Series champion, having previously won with the Atlanta Braves in 2021.

With the latest victory, the Contreras brothers combine for three World Series rings, as Willson previously won a title with the Chicago Cubs in 2016. According to league records, they join an exclusive club: only 10 sets of brothers in Major League Baseball history have captured World Series titles during their careers. The previous sibling duo to achieve the feat consisted of J.D. Drew, who won with the Boston Red Sox in 2007, and Stephen Drew, who won with Boston in 2013.
