The upcoming Week 8 matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets has intensified following pointed remarks from Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty regarding the Jets’ defensive capabilities.
Speaking with reporters earlier in the week, Jeanty expressed confidence in his team’s ability to establish their ground game against New York, explicitly calling out members of the opposing defense. “Yeah. I think we can definitely get the run game going. Get back on track,” Jeanty said. “A couple guys out there that don’t really want to tackle, but I’m not going to say names.”
Jets defensive coordinator Brian Duker addressed the comments when speaking to the press on Thursday, offering a brief and measured rebuttal. “I did see those comments. I’ve got plenty of confidence in our guys,” Duker said.
Veteran linebacker Demario Davis also weighed in on the remarks, dismissing them as standard competitive motivation while shifting the focus toward the upcoming kickoff. “It’s called bulletin board material. Nothing other than that. I’m big on, the game is played inside the white lines,” Davis said.
The Jets and Raiders are scheduled to kick off their Week 8 contest this coming Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
