Russia Says U.S. Shared Intelligence on Moscow Terror Threat

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) stated that it received information from the United States through established partner channels concerning preparations for a terrorist attack in Moscow, prompting authorities to take appropriate security measures.

The disclosure followed a separate public warning from the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, which reported it was aware of a credible threat of a mass casualty event targeting the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve, a sprawling palace museum and park complex located south of the Russian capital. The embassy noted that the U.S. government was coordinating directly with Russian authorities regarding the security situation.

Following the alerts, the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve was temporarily closed, and access to the surrounding park grounds was restricted, according to the RIA news agency, which cited Russian law enforcement agencies. Russian tabloid Baza reported that visitors were evacuated from the venue while an organ concert was underway, cutting the musical program short with approximately ten minutes remaining. A separate scheduled concert celebrating the folk traditions of the North Caucasus region was subsequently canceled.

The security alert recalls a high-profile warning issued by the U.S. Embassy in March 2024, when American officials cautioned that extremists held imminent plans for an attack in Moscow. Just days after that advisory, gunmen launched a devastating assault on the Crocus City Hall concert venue outside Moscow, leaving more than 140 people dead.
