Prince and Princess of Wales Share New Family Photo for Mountain Rescue Awareness Day

The Prince and Princess of Wales have released a previously unseen family photograph in recognition of Mountain Rescue Awareness Day, drawing attention to the volunteer workers who protect individuals in wilderness areas. The image features Prince William, Princess Catherine, and their three children—Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8—posing alongside members of a local rescue team.
In a message shared on Instagram and signed with their initials “W & C,” the couple praised the organization. Through their connection with the group, they stated they have witnessed the dedication, professionalism, and compassion that define the workers’ efforts. The royal couple expressed pride in supporting volunteers who respond in all conditions and at a moment’s notice to assist those in need.
Princess Catherine connected her personal involvement with the rescue community to her completion of the National Three Peaks Challenge this past summer. The demanding physical test requires climbers to ascend the three highest peaks in the United Kingdom within a 24-hour window. Meeting local rescue teams during the challenge provided a chance to express personal gratitude for the vital role these professionals play in keeping hikers and climbers safe throughout the year.
The physical milestone followed a significant period for the Princess, coming a year and a half after she announced she was in remission from cancer. Following the completion of the 23-mile hike, she noted that the effort was intended to underscore the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of comprehensive healthcare.
The family’s history with outdoor and rescue organizations includes several previous engagements. In 2023, the Prince and Princess collaborated with the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team to mark the organization’s 60th anniversary, taking part in medical support exercises, search dog demonstrations, and abseiling. Earlier in the year, the Princess also joined a walk with Mind Over Mountains, a mental health charity supporting outdoor wellbeing.
The royal post concluded with a direct expression of gratitude to the wider rescue network. To everyone across the mountain rescue community, the couple wrote, the public owes thanks for their unwavering commitment, courage, and service.
