Rap icon Nicki Minaj made a high-profile appearance alongside former President Donald Trump in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, using the stage to endorse Republican candidates and praise Trump’s leadership.
Minaj traveled to the Wolverine State aboard Air Force One and joined the former president near the conclusion of his nearly two-hour address at the packed McMorran Place Sports & Entertainment Center. Introducing her to the crowd, Trump praised Minaj as a special person and referred to her as the “Queen of Rap.”
Taking the microphone, Minaj immediately led the audience in a “We love Trump” chant. Addressing the gathering, she pointed to his political comeback as a source of renewed national energy.
“He represents resilience, you know,” Minaj told the crowd. “So many people were maybe giving up a little bit, a little bit hopeless, and since he’s come back, he’s changed the energy of our country, and he’s given us a future to look forward to — a brighter future for us and our children.”
Beyond her support for the former president, Minaj used her time on stage to direct voters toward local Republican contenders, specifically urging the audience to cast their ballots for Senate candidate Mike Rogers and gubernatorial candidate Representative John James.
Describing the current political climate as a critical juncture, Minaj called on Michigan voters to help spearhead a broader political shift.
“Michigan, God bless you. We really need all of these great people to be elected because this is a major turning point for our country,” she said. “And when you’re in major states like Michigan, we need this to be a leader in the movement that’s happening right now. We need this place to lead in the movement, right? And we’re not going to give up because we want our children to grow up in a place where we can be proud of.”
During her remarks, Minaj also touched on social issues, declaring that children should be kept away from gender transition procedures. She concluded her appearance by reaffirming her long-term allegiance to Trump, telling the audience she would continue supporting him indefinitely and vowing to back any future political runs.
