Actor Dax Shepard has opened up about his early romantic pursuits involving Kate Hudson, recalling how he aggressively pursued the star during a poker game while she was still married to musician Chris Robinson.
Speaking on a Wednesday episode of his podcast alongside guests Sara and Erin Foster, the 51-year-old actor detailed his initial encounter with Hudson. Shepard remembered pulling out all the stops despite her marital status at the time. He noted that he left the poker game feeling proud of his performance, viewing it as a strong initial showing even though she was married.
The infatuation eventually led to a romance after Hudson and Robinson separated in 2007. The pair reunited at a dinner party in Malibu, California, where Shepard successfully rekindled their connection. From that night onward, the two actors were inseparable, spending every single day together.
Sara Foster, who counted both actors among her friends, noted that the relationship escalated quickly and recalled that the couple frequently wore beanies during their time together. She also mentioned expressing surprise to Hudson about the pairing at the time, reminding Shepard of the rapid progression.
Today, both actors are in long-term relationships and families of their own. Hudson has been engaged to musician Danny Fujikawa since 2021 after beginning their relationship in 2016, and she shares three children from her past and current relationships with Robinson, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, and Fujikawa. Shepard is married to actress Kristen Bell, with whom he shares two daughters.
