Brewers Edge Rays in Narrow Game 2 Victory to Defend Home Turf

The Milwaukee Brewers maintained their momentum at home on Saturday night, narrowly defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 in Game 2 of the 2026 World Series. The victory at American Family Field marks a pivotal moment in a series where both franchises are competing for the first championship in their respective histories.
Following the tightly contested game in Wisconsin, the series is now set to shift to St. Petersburg, Florida. The Rays will host the next segment of the Fall Classic at Tropicana Field, with Game 3 scheduled for Monday night, Oct. 26. The first pitch for that matchup is slated for 8 p.m. local time.
This year’s World Series features a rare clash between the most successful regular-season teams from both the American and National Leagues. The Brewers entered the postseason having set a franchise record with 103 wins, leading all of Major League Baseball and finishing at the top of several key statistical categories. The Rays, meanwhile, secured an American League-best 98 wins during the regular season. The two teams met three times earlier this year, with Milwaukee winning two of those three encounters.
Historical stakes weigh heavily on both clubs. The Brewers are making their second World Series appearance and their first since 1982, a period when the organization was still part of the American League. For the Rays, this represents their third trip to the World Series since the club’s inaugural season in 1998. The Tampa Bay franchise previously reached the championship round in 2008 and 2020 but has yet to hoist the Commissioner’s Trophy.
Pitching has been a major narrative in the early stages of the series. During Game 1 on Friday, Oct. 23, the Brewers looked to Jacob Misiorowski to help navigate the middle innings, as the young pitcher threw during the third inning against the Rays. The battle of bullpens and starting rotations has remained a focal point through the first two games in Milwaukee.
As the series moves to Florida, the Rays will host Games 3 and 4 on Monday and Tuesday. If the series continues, Tropicana Field will also be the site for Game 5 on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Should the series require a Game 6 or a deciding Game 7, the teams will return to Milwaukee on Oct. 30 and Oct. 31, respectively. All remaining games are scheduled for 8 p.m. starts.
