Flames Cruise Past Red Wings 4-1 for Third Consecutive Victory

Joel Farabee delivered a standout performance with a goal and two assists to propel the Calgary Flames to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Detroit Red Wings on Saturday at the Scotiabank Saddledome, snapping Detroit’s eight-game winning streak in the series.
The Flames have engineered a significant turnaround, securing their third straight win and their fourth victory in five games after stumbling out of the gate with five consecutive losses to start the season. Matvei Gridin contributed a goal and an assist for Calgary, while Ryan Strome and Zayne Parekh also found the back of the net. Matt Coronato chipped in with two assists, and goaltender Devin Cooley turned away 28 shots to anchor the defensive effort.
Detroit entered the matchup riding a strong run, having won three of its previous four outings. Andrew Copp provided the lone offense for the Red Wings, scoring his second goal of the season. Goaltender John Gibson stopped 21 shots in his return to the crease after exiting his prior start on Thursday due to an eye issue.
Calgary opened the scoring late in the first period when Farabee capitalized at 17:50. Adam Klapka and Kevin Bahl drew the assists on the play, which marked Farabee’s second goal of the campaign and extended his personal point streak to four games, during which he has accumulated two goals and five assists.
The Red Wings answered early in the middle frame when Copp tied the game 1-1 at 2:22. J.T. Compher set up Copp for a backhand shot that beat Cooley.
Calgary reclaimed the lead during a power play at 8:38 of the second period. Parekh scored his first goal of the season on a snap shot to make it 2-1. Strome further extended the advantage at 17:04, converting a pass from Morgan Frost for his second goal of the year to bring the score to 3-1.
Gridin capped the night’s scoring at 18:30 of the third period with another power-play snap shot, also netting his second goal of the campaign.
Looking ahead, the Flames will attempt to sweep their four-game homestand on Monday when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs. Meanwhile, the Red Wings will look to salvage a split on their four-game road trip when they face the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.
