An Arizona man has been arrested after investigators uncovered Reddit messages detailing an alleged plot to have an online stranger sexually assault his fiancée inside their home while she was there with their two young children, according to police and court documents.
Zarian Dyer, 23, was taken into custody on Thursday following an investigation by the Buckeye Police Department. Authorities allege Dyer recruited 20-year-old Adrian Ayala to carry out the attack against his fiancée, Bella Torres, at their residence in Buckeye, located about 30 miles outside Phoenix.
Court records reviewed by law enforcement indicate that Ayala received a message on Reddit on October 16 asking if Torres would be aware of the plan. When Ayala asked whether Torres knew, Dyer allegedly replied, “nope,” adding, “You can’t tell her I told you or sent you either you just gotta do it I understand if it’s too much.”
When Ayala inquired about what would happen if the scheme went wrong, the user directed him to run to his car and leave so they could pretend it never happened. Court documents show Ayala initially attempted to back out, stating he was uncomfortable if the victim was not willing. However, the other user pushed back, insisting that “the more you threaten her the more she’ll get into it.”
Later that afternoon at around 5 p.m., Ayala reportedly received impatient messages asking if he could arrive faster because the user was attempting to kill time at a grocery store. Investigators said Ayala carried out the attack at approximately 6 p.m.
Torres told investigators she noticed a stranger poking his head through her front door minutes after Dyer left to pick up groceries. Her 2-month-old son was sleeping in a bedroom, and her 17-month-old daughter was standing directly behind her when she confronted Ayala, who initially asked to use the bathroom.
Ayala then allegedly kicked the front door open, grabbed Torres by the neck, and choked her. He trapped her in the bathroom and attempted to undo the buttons on her pants before groping her, according to the police report.
Fighting back, Torres managed to push Ayala into the front driveway, slapping and resisting him as he attempted to pin her down with his weight. During the struggle, Ayala reportedly dropped a revelation, telling her that her boyfriend had said she would be into the encounter. Torres repeatedly demanded to know Dyer’s name during the altercation, but Ayala did not answer.
Investigators stated that Ayala later confessed to targeting the home after connecting with Dyer online and reaching an agreement to carry out the assault. Detectives seized Ayala’s electronic devices and recovered the messages detailing the plot.
Dyer faces multiple charges, including conspiracy, kidnapping, aggravated assault, sexual abuse, and attempted sexual assault. Ayala has been charged with kidnapping, burglary, sexual abuse, and aggravated assault, according to court records.
