Steph Curry surpasses Dominique Wilkins on NBA scoring list

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry reached another career milestone on Friday night in San Francisco, surpassing Basketball Hall-of-Famer Dominique Wilkins to climb into 18th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Curry paced the Warriors with 31 points in a 112-95 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The milestone basket arrived roughly four minutes into the fourth quarter when teammate Will Richard set a hard screen against Matisse Thybulle, freeing Curry to receive a pass from Draymond Green and sink a wide-open three-pointer.

The shot marked Curry’s eighth three-pointer of the evening, pushing his game total to 27 points and eclipsing Wilkins on the all-time leaderboard. The play converted into a four-point sequence after Thybulle was assessed a technical foul.

Curry entered the contest needing 25 points to overtake Wilkins, who finished his 15-season career with 26,668 points. With his 31-point performance, Curry brought his career total to 26,674 points across 17-plus seasons in the league.

Among active NBA players, only three individuals currently sit ahead of Curry in career scoring: Kevin Durant, James Harden, and DeMar DeRozan.

Curry will have an opportunity to climb higher on the leaderboard in upcoming contests, with Hall-of-Famer Oscar Robertson standing next on the all-time list with 26,710 career points.
