Steelers Debut Distinctive Uniform Combination for Historic NFL Game in Paris

The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to debut a brand-new uniform combination when they face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in Paris, France, marking the first-ever NFL regular-season game held in the country. For the international matchup, the Steelers will pair their standard white away game jerseys with black Color Rush pants and black helmets, creating a distinct visual presentation tailored for the French capital.

The unique pairing generated immediate enthusiasm among players who caught an early preview of the gear. Tight end Darnell Washington and linebacker Nick Herbig shared their reactions after seeing the completed look ahead of kickoff. Washington noted that while the aesthetic is a departure from the team’s traditional look, the distinctive combination fits the international stage.

“Just thinking about it, I was trying to imagine it,” Washington said after getting a sneak peek of the gear alongside Herbig. “Now seeing it together, it’s unique for us to wear. It’s a little bit different, but I like it. We are playing in a different environment, so it’s cool to mix and match. It’s a look good, feel good, play good feeling.”

Because the Steelers are designated as the visiting team for the contest, standard league protocols dictate the use of white jerseys. However, the organization seized the opportunity to alter the surrounding elements for an appearance in a city globally recognized as a fashion capital.

Herbig expressed strong approval for the aesthetic adjustment, leaning into the local atmosphere while anticipating the team’s second consecutive year playing an overseas fixture.

“It’s cool, and we’re going to have to see it on game day,” Herbig said. “But I’m a fan. I think it looks good. It’s a little change-up, something different. Like they say, when in Rome, but we’re going to be in Paris, so let’s do it.”

Beyond the stylistic update, Herbig emphasized the broader significance of the international series as the sport continues its global expansion. The linebacker noted the privilege of representing the league abroad and introducing American football to new audiences.

“Football is an evolving sport, and it’s so awesome that we get a chance to go and show the world that this is the greatest sport, and why it’s the greatest sport,” Herbig said. “I’m super honored and blessed that I get to go out there and do it and get to put on a new uniform combination too.”
