Skechers Celebrates Harry Kane Ballon d’Or Win With Gold Cleats

Footwear manufacturer Skechers has marked Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane’s historic Ballon d’Or victory by releasing a limited-edition run of gold-and-white soccer cleats and a custom gold signet ring.
Kane collected the Ballon d’Or at London’s Palladium Theatre on Monday, becoming the first English player in 25 years to secure the prestigious individual honor. The 33-year-old captain also received the men’s Striker of the Year award following a record-breaking 2025/26 campaign in which he scored 73 goals across 65 matches in all competitions.

To commemorate that milestone, Skechers released 73 pairs of the SKX_2 Elite “Mark of Greatness” boots at 4 a.m. EST on Oct. 30, with one pair representing each of Kane’s goals this season. Retailing for $225 on Soccer.com, the boots feature golden detailing on the Skechers logo and a gleaming gold-color soleplate, though the soleplate is not constructed of real gold. Each purchase includes a collector’s edition publication chronicling Kane’s season through the perspective of Skechers.
In addition to the retail release, the company gifted Kane a one-of-a-kind pair of gold-leaf cleats alongside a personalized gold signet ring crafted by Deakin & Francis, England’s oldest family-run manufacturing jeweler. The ring features an engraving of an English lion holding a key inscribed with the number 73 and Kane’s initials. The bespoke jewelry piece also appears in a new Skechers advertising campaign titled Mark of Greatness, which opens with a craftsman working on the ring.

“Winning the Ballon d’Or after such a memorable year of goals, trophies and special milestones was an incredible honor, and to receive this award in my hometown made it even more special,” Kane said in a statement. “Having Skechers design a bespoke boot to mark this achievement makes it even more special. I’m looking forward to wearing them on the pitch.”
Kane has been endorsed by Skechers since 2023, marking the same year the brand entered the soccer footwear market. Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers, praised the striker’s consistency and influence. “When the world’s greatest wears Skechers,” Greenberg said, “it’s all the evidence athletes at any level need to know that our footwear will deliver wherever and however they play.”

The Ballon d’Or, translating to Golden Ball in French, is widely regarded as soccer’s most esteemed individual accolade and functions as a global MVP award. Winners are determined by an international panel of 100 journalists representing the top 100 nations in the FIFA men’s world rankings.
