Unverified Footage Leaks Online Sparking Persona 1 Remake Discussion
A purported video leak has surfaced online showing early development footage for an apparent remake of the original Persona title. The leaked material includes placeholder sequences showing the Persona 1 protagonist navigating a dungeon environment, party characters engaged in combat alongside an appearance by Persona 2 protagonist Tatsuya Suou, and an in-game story scene.
The leak arrives amid heightened speculation regarding remotes or remasters for the earliest entries in the role-playing game franchise. Those discussions have been fueled by the ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations of the series, customer surveys, and comments from Atlus creative producer Kazuhisa Wada regarding the potential for revisiting the foundational titles.
When asked previously about the prospect of remaking the first two mainline games, Wada stated that while he could not confirm anything definitively at that stage, it was something the team should pursue. “At this point, I can’t say for sure, but personally, I think it’s something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it,” Wada said.

While the authenticity of the newly leaked video remains open to question, observers have noted structural similarities to previous industry leaks. The situation bears a strong resemblance to the early emergence of Persona 3 Reload footage, which originated from a Sega Japan internal meeting held in 2021 before the project was officially revealed. Industry analysts suggest the newly surfaced clips may similarly represent internal development materials that were never intended for public distribution.
Additional scrutiny centers on technical assets within the video. Observers noted that the footage appears to incorporate recycled animations from Persona 4 Revival, an unreleased project that has not yet seen an official commercial launch by the publisher.
Publisher representatives and developers have not officially commented on the circulating video clips, leaving the legitimacy of the project unconfirmed by official sources.
