Luka Doncic Faces Boos and Warriors Rematch at Chase Center

Luka Doncic encountered a hostile reception during his initial appearance at the Chase Center on Friday night, stepping onto the court to a resounding chorus of boos from Golden State Warriors fans less than a minute into the opening quarter. The crowd quickly picked up chants echoing “Luka sucks,” setting a combative tone for one of the week’s most anticipated games. Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg appeared to relish the charged atmosphere from the outset.
The animosity between the fans and the star player stems from the teams’ season opener on October 21, when Doncic and Lendeborg exchanged heated words on the floor. During that initial encounter, Lendeborg was assessed a technical foul after acknowledging he directed a few cuss words at Doncic. Following the final buzzer of that game, Lendeborg told reporters that he had lost all respect for Doncic, accusing him of excessive whining and complaining.
That friction fueled intense anticipation for the second round of the Doncic-Lendeborg rivalry. Lendeborg made a theatrical arrival prior to Friday’s tipoff by walking into the arena dressed as horror movie icon Michael Myers.
While the rookie made his statement off the court, Doncic responded with his play during the opening minutes. He sank his first basket of the night—a three-pointer directly in front of Lendeborg—to stretch the early score to 5-0. The Lakers subsequently mounted a 12-0 run before the Warriors were forced to call their first timeout of the game.

Doncic maintained a dominant offensive pace through the first two quarters, racking up 21 points by the midway point of the second period while Lendeborg remained scoreless.
Golden State managed to adjust before the break, clamping down on the defense to hold Doncic to 24 points by halftime. The Warriors also sparked a late surge, stringing together a 10-0 run near the final two minutes of the half, spearheaded by Steph Curry, who contributed 14 points.

The fierce first-half battle left the Lakers and Warriors locked in a 53-53 tie heading into the locker rooms.
