India Eyes Lineup Changes in Final ODI Against Zimbabwe After Series Win

Having already secured the white-ball series, the Indian women’s cricket team is expected to experiment with its lineup in the final One-Day International against Zimbabwe on Wednesday at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. The historic tour concludes with this final encounter, giving the hosts an opportunity to rotate players following two massive victories.

Ahead of the match, the Indian squad underwent a full training session under the afternoon sun following a day off that included visits to local cafes, catching up with friends, and shopping. Spectators and venue staff at the training session closely monitored Baroda native Yastika Bhatia as she practiced in the nets, as she has yet to feature in the current series. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who has been managing a fever over the past few days—including during her standout century in the second fixture—participated in light hits against the sight-screen before striking several large shots down the ground during practice.

Despite the series win, the bowling attack’s occasional difficulty in taking frequent wickets has presented decisions for the team management. Depending on workload calculations, the coaching staff may consider awarding seamer Nandani Sharma her first India cap. With a demanding multi-format tour of South Africa scheduled for December, the team is looking to complete any final evaluations during this concluding match.

Meanwhile, the visiting Zimbabwe squad utilized the break for sightseeing, taking a trip to the Statue of Unity located approximately 90 kilometers away from Vadodara. Other members of the team remained behind to manage injuries, including big-hitting batter Sharne Mayers, who missed the second game due to a groin strain and focused on recovery.

The visiting side aims to finish the tour on a strong note after coming up short in previous 50-over matches by narrow margins. The team has also set a scoring objective of reaching the 230 to 250 run mark before concluding its tour of India. The final match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
