Inde Navarrette Targets Shane Gillis in SNL Monologue Swipe

Actress Inde Navarrette used her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live to deliver a sharp jab at comedian Shane Gillis, referencing his recent controversial remarks regarding women’s gym attire.
Taking the stage during the Halloween episode of the NBC sketch comedy show, the 25-year-old “Obsession” star discussed her physical training regimen in preparation for her upcoming role as Rogue in a Marvel movie.
“And I know it’s really important for Marvel that you get really fit, so I’ve been working out a lot,” Navarrette told the studio audience. “So, every morning I put on my little whore outfit and I hit the gym.”
The pointed remark immediately drew applause and served as a direct callback to Gillis’ own appearance on the show on Oct. 10. During that monologue, Gillis sparked widespread backlash by joking about women’s revealing workout clothes, remarking that women dressed “like whores” at the gym and complaining about social conventions discouraging men from staring at women who might be recording videos for social media.

Gillis’ comments drew swift public condemnation from prominent figures across the entertainment industry. “Schitt’s Creek” actor Dan Levy posted an Instagram video rebuking the remarks, stating that women wearing short shorts at the gym are not dressed inappropriately, but rather that men labeling them as such are displaying misogyny. Former Saturday Night Live cast members Ego Nwodim and Cecily Strong also criticized the controversial segment.
Later in her monologue, Navarrette shifted topics to poke fun at the perceived differences between herself and her character Nikki in the film “Obsession.” Insisting she shared little in common with her on-screen counterpart, the actress pointed to her seemingly laid-back relationship with her boyfriend, Nick Aiello. However, for comedic effect, the broadcast cut to Aiello sitting in the audience tied up and gagged.

The Halloween episode also featured musical guest Gracie Abrams. Representatives for Gillis did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding Navarrette’s monologue.
