South Carolina Officials Conclude Investigation into Hayden Panettiere’s Death

Officials in Greenville, South Carolina, announced Wednesday that an investigation into the August 16 death of actor Hayden Panettiere has concluded, with authorities ruling the manner of death as accidental and officially closing the case.
“Based on the Medical Examiner’s determination and the findings of the investigation, Hayden Panettiere’s death has been ruled accidental,” officials in Greenville stated.
Emergency response records detail the initial moments at the scene, where paramedics and police discovered Panettiere in cardiac arrest, according to the coroner’s office. Dispatch audio recordings obtained from Broadcastify.com referenced a possible overdose alongside ongoing CPR efforts. Emergency personnel administered Narcan and attempted resuscitation before Panettiere was pronounced dead at 2:31 p.m.
Concurrently, federal authorities examining the circumstances surrounding her death have concentrated their probe in Los Angeles. Investigators are reviewing whether the actor acquired nonprescription pills from a local dealer. Investigators noted that counterfeit pills of this nature have repeatedly been discovered containing fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid capable of causing fatal overdoses in minimal quantities.
