Former Arsenal Winger Jermaine Pennant Recovering After Street Attack by German Shepherd

Former Arsenal and Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant is recovering from severe injuries after being attacked by a German Shepherd in a street encounter. The 43-year-old former professional athlete required more than 50 stitches following the incident and subsequently shared a photograph on social media displaying his right leg heavily wrapped in bandages.
Detailing the encounter on Instagram, Pennant explained that the confrontation began when he attempted to protect his own dog, named King. According to the retired athlete, the aggressive German Shepherd latched onto his leg during the altercation.

Pennant described being knocked to the ground while the attacking animal remained clamped onto his limb with no indication of releasing its grip. The situation shifted when King stepped into the fray, fighting off the attacking animal and preventing what Pennant characterized as a potentially catastrophic outcome.
While Pennant sustained extensive injuries necessitating intensive medical attention, his canine protector emerged with only a minor leg injury. Expressing deep gratitude on social media, Pennant praised his pet as a hero and a legend for stepping in during the dangerous situation.
Pennant finished his professional soccer career in 2018, having played for prominent English clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool during his career. British media brought the incident to light following the former player’s public recount of the event.
