Colts Listening to Trade Offers for Star Running Back Jonathan Taylor

The Indianapolis Colts are engaged in active and ongoing trade discussions with multiple franchises concerning star running back Jonathan Taylor, according to reports published on Saturday. Several clubs, including the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Seattle Seahawks, have reportedly made inquiries regarding the 27-year-old running back.

According to reports from NFL insider Josina Anderson’s publication, the Colts have sought a return package involving at least a first-round draft pick and a defensive tackle in potential negotiations with at least one interested organization. The trade discussions arrive during a busy week of roster management for Indianapolis, which recently traded eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks and three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers. Wide receiver Josh Downs has also surfaced in trade discussions.

Taylor signed a two-year, $44 million contract extension in August, according to Spotrac tracking data. Through seven games this season for the 2-5 Colts, he has rushed for 587 yards and leads the NFL with eight rushing touchdowns.

Since entering the league as a second-round draft pick out of Wisconsin in 2020, Taylor has established himself as one of the franchise’s most prolific offensive players. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, he has accumulated 8,185 career rushing yards across 91 games, including 85 starts, leaving him trailing only Pro Football Hall of Famer Edgerrin James, who holds the franchise record with 9,226 yards. Taylor also holds the franchise benchmark with 77 career rushing touchdowns, having secured the league rushing title in 2021 with 1,811 yards alongside league-leading touchdown campaigns in 2021 with 18 scores and 2025 with 18 scores.

The trade rumors surround the team as the Colts prepare to travel to Jacksonville to face the 4-2 Jaguars on Sunday.
