Christian Watson details rapid hospital return after nasty hit

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson experienced a remarkably eventful evening during his team’s 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Before exiting in the second quarter, Watson put up a dominant first-half performance with six receptions for 100 yards. His night took a dramatic turn when he absorbed a heavy collision from two Panthers defenders, resulting in an ambulance ride to a nearby hospital.
Despite the medical transport, Watson was back at Lambeau Field roughly an hour later, rejoining his teammates to help seal the win and improve the Packers’ record to 5-3. Speaking with Prime Video after the game, Watson admitted the ordeal was frustrating.
“It was tough, honestly. I never wanted to go,” Watson said. “I was hoping that they would let me off. I said I was feeling better once I kind of caught my breath. But they said there [were] a couple [of] signs that made them have to take me over there. I’m just trying to be on a football field. That’s the first and foremost for me, so just thankful that I was able to get back out there.”
Medical staff ordered the evaluation primarily because the wideout was spitting blood following the hit, prompting precautionary scans to rule out severe complications. Watson confirmed that all hospital tests came back clean, revealing no internal bleeding or other suspicious indicators.

While undergoing evaluations away from the stadium, Watson kept tabs on the game’s progress with unexpected assistance. “One of the doctors had his phone out, I was just watching the play-by-play,” Watson said. “I couldn’t watch, but I was just watching the play-by-play. Uh, saw [Michael Golden’s] touchdown. I was hyped. I saw [Josh Jacobs’] touchdown. I was like, ‘Alright, we’re doing something.’ And then it got a little quiet because I was just left in the room by myself for a little while, but eventually they came in and said, ‘Alright, you’re good. We’re going back.’ And then that was that.”
Cleared by medical personnel, Watson returned to the stadium and contributed two more receptions for 13 yards in the second half, capping off a whirlwind night that ended in victory.
