Actor Chris Hemsworth has marked the conclusion of a major production milestone, sharing personal photographs from Thailand as filming for the high-profile action sequel Extraction 3 officially wraps.
Posting to social media, Hemsworth offered followers a look at his downtime during weekends away from the set. The images captured the leading man exploring various Thai landmarks and spending time with his children. The actor credited photographer Evan Paterakis for capturing the behind-the-scenes moments during the final international leg of the production.
Thailand served as the ultimate destination for the movie’s global shoot. Principal photography for the Netflix project kicked off in July 2026, taking the crew across Sydney, Wollongong, and several European locations before finishing up in Southeast Asia. With production wrapping according to schedule around early October, the action thriller is positioned to eye a mid-2027 release window on the streaming platform. Fraser Taggart served as cinematographer on the sequel.
Behind the camera, Sam Hargrave returns to the director’s chair for the third installment, working from a screenplay penned by Joe Russo and David Weil. The narrative continues to draw inspiration from the graphic novel Ciudad, following the gritty exploits of Tyler Rake, a hardened former Australian special forces operator turned mercenary.
Alongside Hemsworth, familiar faces return to the franchise. Golshifteh Farahani and Idris Elba reprise their respective roles from earlier films. Meanwhile, the upcoming sequel expands its ensemble with a notable roster of new additions, including Don Lee, Joe Taslim, Chi Lewis-Parry, Siena Agudong, and Pierce Brosnan. The August 2026 casting announcement of Brosnan generated substantial public interest and media attention ahead of production’s home stretch.
Development on the third movie was first confirmed by Joe Russo in April 2024. At that early juncture, Hemsworth emphasized that the creative team was taking deliberate care with the writing process to ensure the narrative justified a follow-up to its successful predecessors.
