Boca Juniors Field Strong Lineup Against Independiente in Torneo Clausura Clash

Boca Juniors head into Sunday’s high-stakes classic against Independiente in Avellaneda with manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena opting against squad rotation, choosing instead to deploy a nearly complete starting lineup for the round 14 encounter in the Torneo Clausura. The decision underscores the club’s commitment to maintaining momentum across multiple competitions and defending its lead at the top of the annual aggregate table.
The fixture comes hot on the heels of Boca’s dramatic qualification for the Copa Sudamericana final, secured through a late long-range strike from their captain. That decisive goal capped a remarkable recovery for the skipper, who returned to action just 11 days after suffering a grade 2 tear in his right hamstring. Having emerged from their demanding commitments in Brazil with a clean bill of health, the squad has swiftly shifted its focus back to domestic duties.
Arruabarrena praised his players’ resilience ahead of the weekend match, noting that the group has endured difficult spells and is now determined to secure a historic campaign. With qualification for the Copa Libertadores and the domestic title firmly in sight, the technical staff determined that resting key players was unnecessary.
Defensively, left-back Lautaro Blanco represents the sole regular starter granted a rest following an unrelenting stretch of matches. Malcom Braida will step into the starting XI in Blanco’s place. Meanwhile, midfielder Leandro Paredes, who continues to manage his physical conditioning following a recent layoff, will return to the lineup in place of Rodrigo Battaglia.

In the attacking third, Alan Velasco is set to reclaim his spot among the starters after making his comeback against Vasco da Gama following a tear sustained against Unión. Velasco will feature alongside Leonel Flores and Miguel Merentiel in the forward line, while Sebastián Villa is slated to begin the match on the substitutes’ bench.
The anticipated visiting lineup features Álvaro Montero in goal; a defensive four of Leandro Lozano, Lautaro Di Lollo, Facundo Herrera, and Malcom Braida; a midfield trio of Santiago Ascacibar, Leandro Paredes, and Milton Delgado; and an attacking trident composed of Leonel Flores, Miguel Merentiel, and Alan Velasco.

Kickoff at the Estadio Libertadores de América – Ricardo Enrique Bochini is scheduled for 17:00. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN Premium, with referee Nazareno Arasa officiating the encounter.
