World Series Viewership Drops as Brewers Secure Historic Win

A projected 14.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the Milwaukee Brewers defeat the Tampa Bay Rays in the final game of the 2026 World Series, airing across television and streaming platforms on Wednesday night.
Across the entire five-game matchup, the series averaged 12 million viewers, according to network figures released in a statement. That figure marks a decline from the 15.8 million average who tuned in for the 2025 Fall Classic, which saw the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays in a grueling seven-game battle.

Industry analysts pointed to several factors driving the audience contraction in the United States, including the smaller media markets of the competing franchises and a shorter, less extended championship schedule.
The Brewers secured their first championship in the franchise’s 58-year history by cruising to a 4-1 series victory over the Rays in Game 5, hosted in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Oct. 28. Milwaukee nearly completed a sweep before Tampa Bay mounted a dramatic rally in Game 4 on Tuesday, taking a victory on a walk-off single in the 12th inning.

Despite the late-game heroics in Game 4, the 2026 contest lacked the broader national pull of the previous year’s championship run. In 2025, the Dodgers claimed consecutive titles in a high-profile series that drew roughly 26 million viewers for its deciding final game.
