Waymo Launches Autonomous Vehicle Rides to and from Harry Reid International Airport

Travelers flying through Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas now have access to fully autonomous vehicle rides, following a new launch that connects the major transportation hub with the surrounding region. Existing Waymo riders in the area gained airport access immediately, with plans to gradually introduce more users before opening the service to the general public.

Under the operational setup, vehicle pickups and dropoffs take place within dedicated autonomous vehicle zones located on the Ground Zero Level at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Passengers utilizing the autonomous fleet can travel to any destination within the company’s current 24-square-mile service area in the Las Vegas region, with future expansions planned to cover more of the surrounding territory.

Harry Reid International Airport ranks among the busiest aviation facilities in the United States, acting as the primary gateway for millions of visitors traveling to the destination annually. James C. Chrisley, Clark County Director of Aviation, noted that the airport constantly evaluates evolving technologies to enhance passenger convenience.

We serve millions of passengers every year, and as new technologies continue to evolve, we are always looking for ways to bring new options and added convenience to our travelers, Chrisley said, adding that welcoming the autonomous fleet provides passengers with additional transportation choices.

Arica Gately, Head of Airport Business Development and Partnerships at Waymo, described the service as a seamless and stress-free option for navigating to flights or exploring the city. The airport integration builds upon the company’s recent local partnerships, which include serving as the official ride-hailing partner for the Las Vegas Raiders, Allegiant Stadium, and The Venetian Resort.
