Tovah Feldshuh and Erin Foster Address Adam Brody’s Pro-Palestine Comments

Cast members and creative leads from the Netflix series “Nobody Wants This” are publicly addressing remarks made by actor Adam Brody regarding Israel and the conflict in Gaza.
Brody, who stars in the romantic comedy series as a rabbi, drew public attention following a recent interview with GQ published last month. In the interview, the 46-year-old actor voiced critical perspectives regarding Israeli military actions and expressed his support for a free Palestine.
“I have spoken a lot about it privately. I haven’t spoken much about it publicly,” Brody stated in the interview. “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.” He added that the situation was reaching a breaking point and expressed hope that a different administration might correct policies contributing to the conflict.
His remarks prompted a public response from costar Tovah Feldshuh. Speaking to the media, the 77-year-old actress, who is Jewish, strongly disagreed with Brody’s characterization of the situation. Feldshuh described accusations of genocide against Jewish people as “wild” and compared the rhetoric to historical propaganda.
“To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild,” Feldshuh said. “It’s right out of Hitler’s playbook. You take the victim and you make the victim the perpetrator.”
Feldshuh noted that it is particularly damaging when individuals with large follower counts disseminate such statements, though she did not mention Brody by name in that specific context. She emphasized her belief that the existence of Israel is crucial for the democratic world and expressed concern over intersecting political ideologies and rising antisemitism.

Despite their sharp disagreements on the topic, Feldshuh indicated that political friction does not disrupt her professional environment on set, stating her priority is to remain kind and focused on her work.
Series creator Erin Foster also addressed Brody’s remarks. Foster, who converted to Judaism following her marriage, discussed the controversy during an appearance on a podcast. While acknowledging her affection for the actor, Foster made it clear that she does not share his political positions.
“While I love Adam, I also disagree with him. And that’s okay,” Foster said. She described “Nobody Wants This,” which centers on a relationship between a rabbi played by Brody and an agnostic podcaster played by Kristen Bell, as a deliberate “love letter to Judaism.”
Foster explained that her motivation for creating the show stemmed from her positive experiences joining the Jewish community, noting what she perceives as a scarcity of positive representation for Jewish individuals in contemporary media.
