St. Louis CITY SC Returns Home to Face Portland Timbers on College Night

St. Louis CITY SC returns to Energizer Park for a midweek matchup against the Portland Timbers on Wednesday, October 28, following a three-match road trip. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT, with live streaming available on Apple TV and radio broadcasts across local English and Spanish stations.

Wednesday’s fixture brings a celebratory atmosphere as the club commemorates its first trophy by raising a championship banner for the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 7:20 p.m. to take part in the ceremony. In addition to the pre-match banner raising, supporters can view and photograph the Open Cup trophy on the plaza, shop for limited-edition championship merchandise, and participate in College Night festivities. DJ Tatiana Rose will perform on the plaza alongside the All For CITY Spin to Win activation, while Equifax is sponsoring a complimentary foam finger giveaway for the first 10,000 fans in attendance.

The home side enters the contest looking to rebound from a 3-0 defeat against Real Salt Lake last Saturday. In that match, Sergi Solans netted goals in the 41st minute and the second half, while Dominik Marczuk added a third to secure the victory for Real Salt Lake.

Despite that recent road loss, St. Louis has proven formidable at Energizer Park this season. The team holds a 9-2-4 record across 15 home matches, accumulating 31 points and averaging 2.07 points per home game, which ranks third in Major League Soccer. St. Louis has outscored opponents 34 to 19 at home, posting a +15 goal differential. Since entering the league in 2023, the club maintains an all-time home record of 31-18-17.

Wednesday’s meeting marks the second encounter between the two clubs this season and their first at Energizer Park in 2026. The teams previously played to a 2-2 draw on September 9 at Providence Park, where Rafael Navarro scored twice for St. Louis—including an opening-minute goal that marked the fastest in franchise history and the third-fastest in MLS this season. Portland answered both times through Kristoffer Velde, who converted two free kicks to level the score. Across seven all-time regular-season meetings, both sides have claimed two victories alongside three draws.

Portland travels to Missouri following a 3-2 win over Charlotte FC on Saturday. Prior to that result, the Timbers played to a scoreless draw against the Colorado Rapids and dropped a 2-0 match to the LA Galaxy. Portland carries a 2-10-3 away record into the fixture, led offensively by forward Kristoffer Velde, who has tallied eight goals and nine assists this season.

Coverage of the match will be broadcast in English on Apple TV with play-by-play announcer Christian Miles and analyst Kacey White, while Nacho Garcia handles the Spanish-language broadcast. Radio coverage is available on KYKY Y98.1 FM in English with Joey Zanaboni and Dale Schilly, and on KXOK 102.9 FM in Spanish with Santiago Beltrán and Héctor Vega.
