Stolen Car Smashes Into South Carolina Home After Teenagers Flee Traffic Stop

A quiet afternoon in a Simpsonville neighborhood was shattered on October 15, 2026, when a stolen car careened through several yards and slammed into a residential home. The incident, which occurred around 2:30 p.m., led to the arrest of two teenagers following a coordinated search by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office that utilized ground units, K9 teams, and aerial surveillance.
According to authorities, deputies initially attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle reported as stolen. The driver refused to pull over and fled the scene. While the Sheriff’s Office clarified that deputies did not engage in an active high-speed pursuit, the vehicle eventually lost control and crashed into a home located on Renwood Road. Video footage released from the scene shows the vehicle barreling into the structure, followed shortly by deputies arriving to secure the area and assess the damage.
Immediately after the impact, two suspects fled the wreckage. A 16-year-old passenger was quickly apprehended by deputies near the site of the crash. However, the 15-year-old driver attempted to evade capture on foot, triggering a broader manhunt throughout the surrounding neighborhood. To locate the driver, the Sheriff’s Office deployed K9 teams and drone operators. The search dogs were able to pick up a scent directly from the vehicle and track the suspect through the area, while drones provided an overhead view of the terrain to guide deputies on the ground.
Both teenagers were eventually taken into custody and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Despite the severity of the crash, no injuries were reported among the suspects, law enforcement, or the residents of the home.

The impact caused significant damage to the front of the Renwood Road residence. One of the homeowners reported that he and his fiancé had left the house just minutes before the crash to run an errand. Upon returning, they found the car had smashed through the front door, narrowly missing another vehicle parked in their garage by only a few inches. The resident expressed relief that no one was inside at the time but noted that the teenagers’ actions could have had far more tragic consequences, urging them to consider the impact of their decisions on others’ lives.
Neighbors also described a narrow escape. Rachel Bush, who lives next door, said she had been walking her baby and dog outside just minutes before the car plowed into her neighbor’s yard. She was inside putting her child down for a nap when she heard the sound of the collision. Another neighbor, Robert Belcher, arrived on the scene shortly after the crash to offer support to the homeowners, remarking on the fortunate timing that kept the residents out of harm’s way.

In a statement accompanying the release of the incident footage, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the technological resources available to their deputies during such searches. The agency noted that their “toolbox”—including K9 units and drone technology—is designed to ensure that suspects who flee are quickly located. The investigation into the circumstances of the car theft remains ongoing.
