Russia Reports Drone Strikes on Black Sea Cargo Ship and Kharkiv Logistics Hubs

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that its forces conducted a series of overnight drone strikes aimed at disrupting Ukrainian military supply chains, targeting both a maritime vessel and critical logistics infrastructure on land.
According to the statement released by the ministry on October 25, 2026, Russian drones successfully struck a cargo vessel as it was navigating toward the Black Sea port of Chornomorsk. Russian officials claimed that the vessel was being utilized to transport supplies for the Ukrainian armed forces. The port of Chornomorsk, situated in the Odesa region, remains a vital gateway for Ukrainian maritime activity, and targeting vessels in transit indicates a sustained effort to monitor and intercept Black Sea shipping lanes.
In addition to the maritime strike, the Russian military reported hitting several key logistics points in the city of Kharkiv. The targets included a logistics center, a distribution center, and a logistics terminal. The ministry stated that these facilities were functioning as hubs for the storage and distribution of “dual-use” cargo intended for the Ukrainian military. The term “dual-use” typically refers to equipment or materials that can be applied to both civilian and military needs, such as communications gear, fuel, or specific mechanical components.
Kharkiv, located in northeastern Ukraine, serves as a major logistical artery due to its infrastructure and its proximity to active conflict zones. The ministry’s report did not provide specific details on the scale of the damage or potential casualties resulting from the overnight operation. As of Sunday, the claims regarding the specific nature of the cargo and the results of the strikes have not been independently verified.
