Packers Receiver Christian Watson Hospitalized After Injury Against Panthers

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson exited Thursday night’s game against the Carolina Panthers and was transported to a nearby hospital for precautionary testing following a significant on-field collision.
Watson collided with Panthers cornerback Will Lee in the second quarter immediately after hauling in a long reception from quarterback Jordan Love. Both players went down on the play, prompting medical staff from both teams to rush onto the field to evaluate them.

While Lee was eventually carted off the sideline and ruled out for the remainder of the contest due to a hamstring injury, Watson managed to walk off under his own power before heading straight to the locker room. Broadcast footage later showed the wide receiver entering the back of an ambulance. Sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung reported that Watson was bound for a local hospital for precautionary evaluations regarding a potential chest injury.
Before his departure, Watson had established himself as a dominant presence on the field, recording six receptions for 100 yards. Entering Thursday’s matchup as the Packers’ leading receiver for the season, he has accumulated 34 catches for 595 yards and six touchdowns, while his 17.5 yards per reception mark ties him for third across the National Football League.

The wide receiver is currently in his sixth season with Green Bay, having recently secured a four-year, $110.5 million contract extension earlier this year.
Following Watson’s exit, quarterback Jordan Love pivoted to other offensive targets against the struggling Carolina defense. Tight end Tucker Kraft opened the scoring for Green Bay with a touchdown to make it 6-3, and teammate Matthew Golden stepped up with 49 receiving yards and a touchdown before halftime, helping stake the Packers to a 20-6 lead at the break.
Green Bay entered the Thursday night matchup aiming to rebound from a Week 7 loss to the Detroit Lions. A victory helps the Packers maintain ground in a tightly contested NFC North division, where the undefeated Minnesota Vikings hold the top spot ahead of a chasing pack.
