58-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured in Middletown Work Van Collision

A multi-agency emergency response was triggered in Middletown early Monday morning following a serious motor vehicle collision that left one man in critical condition. The incident, which involved a sedan and a work van, occurred during the morning commute, leading to immediate reports of victims being trapped within the wreckage.

Emergency dispatchers received calls regarding the crash at approximately 6:40 a.m. on October 26, 2026. First responders were directed to the 400 block of Warwick Road, where they discovered the aftermath of the high-impact collision between the two vehicles. Jamielee Majewski, the Assistant Public Information Officer for New Castle County EMS, confirmed that the initial reports indicated individuals might be pinned or trapped inside the vehicles, necessitating a rapid deployment of specialized rescue equipment and paramedics.

Upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics and crews from the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown began an immediate assessment of those involved. A 58-year-old male was identified as having sustained severe trauma. Paramedics treated the man at the scene for suspected internal injuries before he was stabilized for transport. An ambulance from the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown subsequently rushed the patient to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was admitted in serious condition.

A second individual involved in the crash, identified as a man approximately 60 years old, was also evaluated by medical personnel on-site. Despite the severity of the impact between the sedan and the work van, officials stated that he declined further medical care or transportation to a hospital following his assessment.

The scene remained active throughout the morning as the Delaware State Police took over the primary investigation into the cause of the accident. While the specific dynamics of the crash have not yet been released, investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the collision in the 400 block of Warwick Road. The Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown and New Castle County Paramedics assisted in managing the site while the initial evidence was gathered. No further updates on the 58-year-old man’s condition have been made available by hospital staff.
