Four Chicago Men Charged in Addison Gaming Cafe Burglary and High-Speed Chase

Four Chicago men have been ordered held without bond following an early-morning armed burglary at an Addison gaming cafe that triggered a high-speed police chase across DuPage County and the subsequent deployment of spike strips.
DuPage County Judge Robert Miller granted the state’s motion to deny pretrial release for Keonte Adams, 20; Dajuan Johnson, 24; Kyronte McCondichie, 20; and Daryl Nesbit, 19. Each defendant faces multiple felony charges, including armed violence, unlawful possession of a machine gun, burglary, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, criminal damage to property, and aggravated fleeing and eluding.

The investigation stemmed from a coordinated regional effort by Addison police and other DuPage County law enforcement agencies tracking a pattern of burglaries targeting gaming establishments. Authorities stated that around 4:32 a.m. Thursday, officers spotted a stolen black Dodge Durango and a stolen white BMW traveling westbound together on Lake Street near Bruce Avenue.
Minutes later, both vehicles pulled into the parking lot of Maria’s Gaming Café in Addison. According to prosecutors, five individuals—four of them armed—used sledgehammers and a crowbar to force entry into the business. The suspects spent approximately two minutes inside, smashing gaming machines and removing cash boxes before fleeing in the two stolen vehicles. Investigators later determined the group stole $13,847 in cash.

During the initial getaway, the BMW struck police spike strips. Three occupants from the BMW then transferred into the Durango, which prosecutors noted was carrying a total of eight occupants at that point. Elmhurst police attempted to stop the Durango near Lake Street and Route 83, but the driver refused to pull over. Villa Park police subsequently joined the pursuit along North Avenue, where the vehicle reached speeds exceeding 100 mph before officers successfully deployed spike strips.
Following the tire deflation, all eight occupants abandoned the Durango and fled on foot, running north across Interstate 290 into a residential neighborhood near Van Buren Street and 31st Avenue in Bellwood. Authorities reported that three firearms fell from the vehicle as the suspects scattered.
A multi-agency dragnet involving K-9 units, drones, and officers from several local police departments led to the capture of the four suspects. Inside the Durango, law enforcement allegedly recovered three loaded firearms: two Glock handguns and a Zastava AK-style weapon. Prosecutors noted that one of the handguns was equipped with a conversion switch capable of turning the semiautomatic firearm into a fully automatic machine gun. Officers also seized a sledgehammer, a pry bar, and a cash box from the vehicle, along with two additional guns and another sledgehammer discovered inside the abandoned BMW.
The four defendants are scheduled to make their next appearance in DuPage County court on November 23.
