EasyJet to Install Starlink Inflight Internet Across Airbus Fleet Starting 2027

British budget airline easyJet announced on Monday that it will introduce Starlink satellite internet across its Airbus fleet starting in 2027, marking the carrier’s entry into high-speed inflight connectivity provided by Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

The takeover-bound airline stated that the satellite internet service will be deployed across its A320, A320neo, and A321neo aircraft during the first half of 2027. The full rollout of the Starlink system across the fleet is projected to reach completion by early 2028.

EasyJet did not disclose the financial terms or commercial conditions of its agreement with the satellite operator. Earlier this year in January, while discussing a potential partnership, easyJet CEO Kenton Jarvis pointed out that the economic model for delivering onboard Wi-Fi has historically presented significant challenges.

The adoption of satellite-based connectivity places easyJet alongside an expanding roster of global carriers integrating SpaceX technology. Major airlines such as American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and British Airways already equip their aircraft with Starlink internet.

Within the European low-cost aviation sector, competitors are approaching the technology with varying strategies. Rival carrier Wizz Air announced a similar partnership in June, whereas competitor Ryanair previously estimated that implementing Starlink could entail costs reaching up to $250 million annually.
