Bastrop County Man Wanted for Multiple Arsons, Domestic Assault and Animal Cruelty

Law enforcement agencies in Texas are searching for a Bastrop County man accused of launching a campaign of harassment and arson against his former partner that culminated in the total destruction of her home and the death of multiple animals.

Abraham Salomon Chacon faces felony warrants for Arson of a Habitation, a first-degree felony, and Cruelty to Animals and Cruel Death of an Animal, a third-degree felony, according to the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators state that Chacon has an extensive criminal history including prior convictions for assault causing bodily injury to a family member, driving while intoxicated, evading arrest with a vehicle, and impersonating a public servant, alongside previous arrests for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and resisting arrest.

The victim, who dated Chacon thirteen years ago before briefly rekindling the relationship in June 2026, told reporters she decided to end things after observing alarming behavioral warning signs. When she broke off the relationship, Chacon allegedly began issuing direct threats that he would burn down her house and that she would regret her decision. The threats escalated to the point where she had to leave work and call local law enforcement to meet her at her residence after capturing Chacon on her home security camera.

The situation escalated violently on October 14, when the victim reported that Chacon again threatened to set her home on fire. Later that night, Chacon allegedly forced entry into her residence by breaking down a door and assaulted her in front of her two children, both under the age of ten. The victim managed to escape while her children were sleeping and fled to a neighbor’s house to dial 911, but Chacon departed the scene before deputies could intervene.

On October 17, while the victim was at work, she began receiving text messages from Chacon stating that he had set her bedroom on fire. As she prepared to contact emergency services, a neighbor called to report smoke emanating from the property. Emergency responders arrived and extinguished the blaze, which was contained to the bedroom. Witnesses reported observing Chacon entering and exiting the home prior to the flames appearing. During this initial fire, responders were unable to breach doors in time to rescue a four-year-old pit bull named Nala and her seven two-week-old puppies. The victim noted that she had originally acquired the dog for her children following the death of their father to provide a sense of security.

Early the next morning on October 18, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Bastrop County communications received reports of a second fire at the residence. The victim, who was staying at an alternative location, received a call from an officer informing her that her home was engulfed in flames. Upon returning to the scene, she discovered that the house was completely destroyed and all personal belongings were lost. The residence held significant sentimental value, as it was the home left to her by her late children’s father.

Later that same day at approximately 9:23 p.m., Chacon allegedly contacted the victim to inform her that he was returning to the property. First responders arrived to find a cabinet ablaze inside the ruined structure, though Chacon had already fled.

Investigators state the home is a total loss. While the victim reported that detectives indicated Chacon was recently spotted in Austin, official advisories from the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office note that he may also frequent San Antonio, Eagle Pass, and Bastrop County.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding Chacon’s whereabouts to contact the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office at 512-549-5100 or Bluebonnet Crime Stoppers at 866-930-8477.
