NFL Fans in Paris Remain Undeterred by Unrest Ahead of Saints-Steelers Matchup

Football fans arriving in the French capital for the upcoming matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Pittsburgh Steelers are shaking off concerns over local civil unrest, reporting a largely positive and welcoming experience across the city.

Lifelong friends and Saints supporters Sindhu Pandit, Shruti Menon, and Pramod Menon said they never entertained the possibility that the game might be called off. Pandit credited their smooth navigation of the city to proactive planning and reliable local resources. Staying informed through subscribed platforms, local news broadcasts, and helpful hotel concierge desks allowed the group to travel safely.

Pramod Menon praised local residents as incredibly hospitable and considerate toward visiting sports fans. His wife, Shruti Menon, expressed enthusiasm about experiencing the game in Paris, noting the cultural connection between the French city and New Orleans. They emphasized their excitement in supporting both their team and the destination.

Steelers supporters Sean and Saroja Warner echoed those sentiments, despite admitting initial apprehension. Sean Warner, who has cheered for Pittsburgh since 1974, acknowledged that he and his wife had concerns regarding reports of riots and demonstrations before making the trip. However, he described the actual experience in Paris as fantastic, praising the city’s efforts to ensure visitors feel safe, comfortable, and able to enjoy their stay.

The Washington, D.C.-based couple, seasoned travelers to Paris who spent Saturday exploring the streets until early evening, observed that while some local businesses had boarded-up windows, any demonstrations or clashes appeared strictly localized. Saroja Warner noted that their daytime walks remained undisturbed by unrest, characterizing the atmosphere as resembling people simply trying to enjoy a nice time despite rainy weather.
