Marine Le Pen Claims French State is Collapsing Amid Escalating Riots and Security Chaos

French sovereigntist leader Marine Le Pen has argued that state power in France is collapsing in real time, pointing to recent violent demonstrations as evidence that the government has lost control of its core responsibilities. Speaking during an interview with broadcaster Franceinfo, the Rassemblement National parliamentary group president told the public that upcoming elections present an extremely important choice regarding the nation’s future direction.

Le Pen criticized the government for failing to anticipate that Saturday’s demonstrations would escalate into severe riots, describing the outcome as a symptom of state authority slipping away. She characterized the current national climate as a convergence of migratory, security, and budgetary chaos driven by government incompetency and ideological denial. According to the opposition leader, restoring order would not require new legislation, but rather the determined application of existing statutes.

Police morale has suffered because officers are blamed for failing to maintain street control, Le Pen said, while the true responsibility lies with a government that fails to provide clear directives and backing. She pitched herself as a candidate of order who would issue decisive instructions to law enforcement and actively mobilize security forces.

The administration has acknowledged reacting too slowly to Saturday’s unrest and losing control of the streets in several cities. In response, officials enacted targeted local curfews and deployed police helicopters over Paris. Le Pen questioned the effectiveness of blanket nighttime measures that impact innocent citizens, arguing that her administration would implement more precise interventions.

Instead of broad curfews, Le Pen suggested preventing hard-left extremists from entering the country ahead of scheduled demonstrations. She noted that authorities possess extensive intelligence files on foreign black-bloc participants traveling from Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy, and should utilize tracking systems to block them from crossing the border.

The violence during the weekend prompted authorities to involve specialist counterterrorism prosecutors, particularly after a fire destroyed the city hall in Limoges. Prominent mayors have pointed to networks of ultra-left urban warfare training camps connected to the unrest. Le Pen further asserted that an ecosystem of politicized associations supported by taxpayer subsidies feeds into these extremist networks, arguing that state funding should be restricted strictly to apolitical organizations.
