Jordyn Woods Unveils New ‘Trophy Gold’ Lucky Bag at Knicks Home Opener

The New York Knicks returned to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday for their season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers, but much of the buzz surrounding the court centered on a specific accessory carried by Jordyn Woods. The 29-year-old model and designer used the high-profile matchup to debut a new “Trophy Gold” version of her viral Tux Clutch Mini, effectively retiring the orange “lucky bag” that defined the team’s previous championship season.

Woods, who was at the arena to support her husband, Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns, appeared in a suede outfit complemented by strappy gold heels. The choice of the metallic gold bag was a deliberate nod to the Knicks’ NBA championship victory in June. It replaces the “Summer Citrus” orange clutch that became a focal point for fans during the team’s deep postseason run.

The transition marks the end of an era for the previous orange bag, which attained a superstitious status among the Knicks faithful. When asked about the whereabouts of the citrus-colored clutch on Tuesday, Woods noted with a smile that it was officially “in retirement,” adding that the new gold edition was designed specifically “for the trophy.”

The connection between the fashion piece and the team’s performance is more than just fan speculation. During last season’s postseason winning streak, the bright orange bag was considered a mandatory presence. The superstition was cemented after the Knicks’ only loss during that stretch occurred in Game 3, a match where Woods was forced to leave the bag at home due to the venue’s no-bag policy. In an interview earlier this year, Woods noted that fans would actually blame her if she didn’t have the accessory in hand during close games.

Towns, 30, has been an active participant in the “lucky bag” ritual, often posing with the clutch after victories. He previously suggested the bag was significant enough to be placed in a major museum, a sentiment that became reality this summer when the original orange clutch was put on display at the Guggenheim. Woods, a longtime fan of the museum, described the exhibition of her design as an achievement she never imagined.

The Tux Clutch Mini is part of the Woods by Jordyn brand and features an ostrich-textured finish. While the gold and orange versions have become synonymous with the Knicks’ recent success, the $155 bag is also produced in black, blue, snake, and off-white crocodile colorways.

Beyond the basketball court, the debut of the “Trophy Gold” bag follows a major personal milestone for the couple. Woods and Towns were married in August in Malibu, California. The wedding was a high-profile affair with a guest list that included Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, Justin Bieber, and Hailey Bieber, as well as Jada Pinkett Smith, Michael B. Jordan, and Gayle King.

As the Knicks begin their title defense, the introduction of the gold bag signals that the “lucky charm” tradition is set to continue, albeit with a new championship-inspired aesthetic.
