The Gilded Age Cast Reunites in New York for Season 4 Premiere

The upper crust of 19th-century New York returned to the modern-day city this week as the cast and creators of “The Gilded Age” celebrated the upcoming launch of the show’s fourth season. Gathered in Manhattan on October 26, 2026, the ensemble joined series creator Julian Fellowes for a red-carpet premiere that signaled a high-stakes shift for the period drama’s central families.

Scheduled to debut on Sunday, November 1, at 9 p.m. ET, the fourth season arrives with a narrative focused on the consequences of ambition and the shifting social landscape of late 19th-century America. Production notes for the new season indicate that the central Russell family will be forced to reckon with the fallout of their previous maneuvers. Simultaneously, Agnes van Rhijn, the stalwart of old-money tradition played by Christine Baranski, is set to seize a pivotal opportunity to restore her family’s social standing.

The premiere event brought together the expansive ensemble that has become a hallmark of the production. Leading the arrivals were Carrie Coon and Morgan Spector, who play the industrialist power couple Bertha and George Russell, alongside Cynthia Nixon and Louisa Jacobson. Denée Benton, whose character Peggy Scott has been a central figure in the show’s exploration of the Black elite in Brooklyn, also attended. This season, Peggy’s storyline will reportedly follow her efforts to earn acceptance from her future in-laws as she navigates new personal territory.

The series continues to boast a deep bench of veteran stage and screen talent. The Season 4 cast list confirmed for the upcoming episodes includes Taissa Farmiga, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson, Ben Ahlers, and Ashlie Atkinson. The production also draws heavily from the Broadway community, featuring Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Kelli O’Hara, and Donna Murphy. Other notable participants include Dennis Haysbert, Bill Camp, Phylicia Rashad, and Jim Gaffigan, the latter of whom appeared at the New York premiere alongside Jeannie Gaffigan.

Creator Julian Fellowes, who serves as a writer and executive producer, attended the event alongside writer and executive producer Sonja Warfield. The creative team for the fourth season is rounded out by director and executive producer Salli Richardson-Whitfield. The series is a co-production between Universal Television and the network, maintaining its focus on the friction between the established “Old Money” families and the rising “New Money” titans during a period of massive economic expansion.

As the narrative moves into this new era, characters like Marian Brook, played by Louisa Jacobson, are expected to forge independent paths. The premiere event also drew various figures from the broader entertainment landscape, including Rebecca Hall and Ronan Farrow, highlighting the production’s significant footprint in the New York filming scene. With the premiere set for early November, the season is expected to further explore the intricate social codes and high-risk gambles that defined Manhattan’s elite during the Gilded Age.
