Clippers Sign Guard Blake Wesley to Ten-Day Contract

The Los Angeles Clippers have reinforced their backcourt depth by signing guard Blake Wesley to a 10-day contract utilizing an injury hardship exception. The agreement provides the 23-year-old guard with a new opportunity in the league shortly after the franchise waived him earlier this month.
Wesley initially joined the organization in September on a training camp agreement in pursuit of an opening-night roster spot. The team ultimately released him on Oct. 17 during final roster preparations. Less than two weeks later, the injury hardship exception enabled the front office to bring him back temporarily, granting the team extra backcourt flexibility while managing injuries without making a long-term commitment.

The former Notre Dame standout entered the professional ranks as the 25th overall selection in the 2022 NBA Draft, selected by the San Antonio Spurs. During his first three seasons in San Antonio, Wesley logged 156 regular-season appearances primarily in a reserve role. He subsequently moved to the Portland Trail Blazers ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. Across 31 games with Portland, he posted averages of 4.8 points, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 rebounds per contest while converting 45.2 percent of his field-goal attempts.
Throughout his professional career, Wesley has worked to secure a steady rotation role, making his latest stint with Los Angeles an important evaluation window. Team management will assess whether his defensive capabilities against opposing guards, pace-pushing tendencies, and secondary ball-handling skills can translate into consistent contributions and potentially alter the franchise’s long-term assessment of his capabilities.
