Wycombe Edges Past Burton Albion in League One Clash
Wycombe Wanderers secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Burton Albion in Saturday’s League One fixture, courtesy of a decisive strike from Jayden Wareham. The win elevates Tom Hounsell’s Wycombe side to 13th place in the league table with 18 points from 13 matches, nudging them one point and two places ahead of their opponents.
Wareham broke the deadlock in the first half, firing an effort from the center of the box into the top right corner to settle the contest. Burton mustered three attempts of their own, highlighted by a close-range header from Mark O’Mahony that missed the top left corner following a corner kick, alongside a direct free kick from Charlie Webster that missed the target.
Referee Thomas Parsons officiated the match, cautioning Wycombe’s Malik Mothersille and Daniel Harvie with yellow cards, while Burton finished the fixture without a booking. The visitors committed six fouls to Wycombe’s two and earned three corners against Wycombe’s two.
