Rep. Jamie Raskin Criticizes Elon Musk and Trump Administration Immigration Stance

Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) launched a sharp critique against billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and the broader immigration approach of the Trump administration during an appearance on television Thursday evening.
Appearing on MS NOW’s “The Last Word,” Raskin argued that the administration fundamentally reviles immigrants while simultaneously maintaining an alliance with Musk, whom he described as an immigrant who “never really inhaled the real values of our country.” According to the Maryland congressman, Musk possesses no genuine interest in foundational American principles, pointing to concepts such as equal protection, due process, the First Amendment, and representative government.
Elaborating on his critique, Raskin connected Musk’s background to what he characterized as a systematic overhaul of the nation’s asylum regime. He asserted that the administration’s policy changes are designed to favor specific demographics, alleging that officials are streamlining entry for white Afrikaners whom he described as unreconstructed racists. Raskin claimed this specific direction in asylum policy was directly inspired by Musk.
The lawmaker also took aim at the broader ambitions of high-profile technology figures associated with the administration, suggesting their aspirations extend beyond Earth. Referencing space exploration goals, Raskin remarked that these individuals seem intent on establishing entirely new civilizations elsewhere, quipping that Musk himself acts as though he were born on Mars.
